The MPS Legislative Committee (LAC) is always looking for new members! This Committee pursues the interests of the membership in all mental health matters, initiating and responding to proposed state  legislation as well as proposed regulations affecting psychiatry.   Committee members also liaison with our lobbyist, other MPS committees, MedChi, and other patient and professional advocacy groups is integral to this work, much of which occurs during the legislative session from early January to early April each year. We invite all members to join us in Annapolis to meet with House and Senate leadership to discuss current and future legislation affecting psychiatry and mental health in Maryland. April 15th 5:45-9:30PM CME Activity: Impacts of Gun Violence The MPS in conjunction with MedChi, will host a weekday, evening CME event that will focus on addressing public health impacts of gun violence in our community. The program will include research and strategies that psychiatrists and other providers can use with patients and families who are victims.  More details coming soon.
