SUMMARY:Open Dialogue: A Novel Approach to Care for Early Psychosis and Other Crises
DESCRIPTION:Please join us at the beautiful Bon Secours Retreat Center for a conversation with Dr. Mary Olson\, Founding Director of the Institute for Dialogic Practice. Pioneered in Finland in the 1990s\, the Open Dialogue model has been shown to dramatically reduce incidence of long-term disability. Open Dialogue is not a treatment model\, but rather an approach to care across mental health service delivery.\n\nDr. Olson leads the first center in the U.S. providing world class training in this SAMHSA-recognized model. She will share practical pathways to embed elements of Open Dialogue within existing systems of care\, lessons learned from implementations in the States\, and recommendations for an incremental approach that builds upon the realities and strengths of service delivery in the U.S.\n\nWe are delighted to offer this program in partnership with On Our Own of Maryland and the Maryland Department of Health’s Behavioral Health Administration. Space is limited and there is no cost to attend. Register now to reserve your spot.\n\nWhat you will learn:\n\n\tThe benefits of the Open Dialogue approach to service delivery\, particularly among young adults and others experiencing symptoms of mental illness for the first time\n\tUnique engagement strategies that build trust and facilitate participation in care\n\tKey elements of the Open Dialogue approach to care\n\tOutcomes resulting from a novel approach to treatment meetings\n\tCase examples that offer a stepped approach to adoption of Open Dialogue within a care system\n\nWho should attend:\n\n\tBehavioral health professionals of all types including:\n\n\tHospital and Emergency Room personnel\n\tACT & Mobile Crisis Teams\, Stabilization Centers and Urgent Care Services\n\tYouth WrapAround and First Episode Programs\n\tCommunity Mental Health and CCBHC direct care staff and managers\n\tConsumer and Family Peer Support Specialists\n\tBehavioral Health Administration and Local Behavioral Health Authority leaders developing Assisted Outpatient Treatment programs\n\n\n\tConsumers\, Family Members\, Caregivers and Advocates\n\tPolice\, Judges\, Corrections Personnel\, Crisis Intervention Teams\, Probation Officers\n\tElected Officials\n\tAll who are interested\, especially participants who missed the opportunity to hear from Dr. Olson at our 2025 Legislative Reception\n
