DESCRIPTION:The Maryland Action Plan to Prevent Suicide in Schools (MAPS) is a comprehensive\, evidence-based guidance and training initiative designed for educators\, school-based mental health staff\, administrators\, and community partners working with youth. It includes over 70 printable tools\, checklists\, and over 200 pages of suicide prevention\, intervention\, and postvention resources. Learn how to apply suicide prevention strategies in K-12 settings and strengthen school policies with practical\, evidence-based approaches. \nOn June 3\, expert Dr. Scott Poland will share insights about preventing youth suicide. On June 4\, interactive roleplays will demonstrate how to approach students and caregivers about suicide-related concerns. Participants must attend both days of training to obtain CEUs. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nIdentify risk and protective factors that influence suicide risk.\nLearn how to screen students using culturally responsive tools.\nUnderstand how to create safety plans and notify caregivers appropriately.\nApply lessons from legal and ethical case studies.\nParticipate in interactive roleplays on engaging students and caregivers about suicide-related concerns.\n\nEarn: 4.0 CEUs (2.0 CEUs per session)\, attendance at both sessions is mandatory to receive CEUs.
