DESCRIPTION:The Maryland Action Plan to Prevent Suicide in Schools (MAPS) is a comprehensive\, evidence-based guidance and training initiative designed for educators\, school-based mental health staff\, administrators\, and community partners working with youth. It includes over 70 printable tools\, checklists\, and over 200 pages of suicide prevention\, intervention\, and postvention resources. Learn how to apply suicide prevention strategies in K-12 settings and strengthen school policies with practical\, evidence-based approaches.\n\nOn June 3\, expert Dr. Scott Poland will share insights about preventing youth suicide. On June 4\, interactive roleplays will demonstrate how to approach students and caregivers about suicide-related concerns. Participants must attend both days of training to obtain CEUs.\n\nLearning Objectives:\n\n\tIdentify risk and protective factors that influence suicide risk.\n\tLearn how to screen students using culturally responsive tools.\n\tUnderstand how to create safety plans and notify caregivers appropriately.\n\tApply lessons from legal and ethical case studies.\n\tParticipate in interactive roleplays on engaging students and caregivers about suicide-related concerns.\n\nEarn: 4.0 CEUs (2.0 CEUs per session)\, attendance at both sessions is mandatory to receive CEUs.
